Archaeology Boot-Camp
 where students read, write, think and dream Classical Archaeology

A 11-day long session (July 18th – 29th) based at our HSIA home-base in Assisi and at the Villa Lucia in Paestum. Intensive, hands-on study of Paestum and Pompeii, the two classical cities per eccellenza.

Students absorb as much as they can about everything from classical inscriptions and ancient city-planning, to temple architecture, the history of the domus, and Roman frescoes. They also read ancient poets and historians (and some modern ones, too!) who shed light on these two archaeological sites. Mini-themes in each unit highlight the particular architectural and artistic marvels of each city. HSABC teaches students to explore on their own, to think like archaeologists, and to develop their own archaeological imaginations and intuitions.
